Bellafill® is a unique filler that not only fills the nasolabial folds (lines between the nose and mouth), but also diminishes the appearance of acne scars. This Food and drug Administration (FDA)-approved filler is used by the medical professionals at the Aesthetic Center of Gainesville for reliable, safe outcomes. Bellafill®, a collagen filler, is comprised of microspheres that form a matrix to support the production of collagen to add volume to the skin. This volume fills in the lines and wrinkles for smoother skin. When it comes to acne scars, the same principles hold true, where the collagen fills in the scarred area to diminish its appearance for long-lasting results.

Administering Bellafill®

Bellafill® works in two ways: first, the collagen adds volume and lifts the skin around the laugh lines. Second, the PMMA within the filler product creates a matrix that supports the body’s production of collagen. Bellafill® is administered at our plastic surgery facility and a typical appointment takes about 30 minutes. The treatment, including the injection dosage, formulation, and location, is tailored during the procedure to according to the patient’s specific needs. A Bellafill® injection is given through a syringe to areas that are pre-marked by the practitioner.

What To Expect

After a Bellafill® injection treatment, patients will see their results almost immediately. The skin will appear smoother and the treated lines will slowly diminish over the following days. Mild swelling and redness at the injection site will subside within about 24 hours. Patients should avoid exercise for at least one full day. Bellafill® is unique in the fact that the PMMA microspheres provide a microscopic support matrix to support the ongoing production of collagen to provide lasting results.

Is Bellafill safe?

Yes. This product was approved by the FDA in 2006 and has been proven to be safe and effective for treating laugh lines, as well as acne scars. Patients must complete an allergy test prior to treatment to ensure an allergic reaction will not occur.

Will I have fast results?

Bellafill® replaces lost volume in the skin and the results are both immediate and long lasting.

What's the difference between wrinkle relaxers and fillers?

Injectable fillers add volume to the skin to help soften the appearance of surface wrinkles. BOTOX®, and other wrinkle relaxers, temporarily freeze the underlying facial muscles, allowing them to relax which causes the skin’s surface to appear smooth. It is common for many patients to use a combination of a wrinkle relaxer and wrinkle filler to attain the best results.
