Professional Facial Treatments

Your skin puts up with a lot. Sun exposure, stress, seasonal changes and the simple passage of time all leave their mark. Professional facial treatments are one of the most reliable ways to address those changes, whether you’re dealing with dull tone, uneven texture, peach fuzz, enlarged pores or the kind of buildup that your at-home routine just can’t fully resolve.

At the Aesthetic Center of Gainesville at Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery, our facials go beyond a typical spa experience. They’re delivered by a licensed aesthetician working within a full plastic surgery practice, which means your skin is evaluated with a clinical eye and treated with professional-grade techniques that get real results.

01

What Are Professional Facials?

A professional facial is a customized skin treatment performed by a trained aesthetician using clinical-grade tools, techniques and products. Unlike what you’d find at a day spa, the facials offered at the Aesthetic Center are tailored to your specific skin concerns and supported by a team that sees patients across the full spectrum of aesthetic and surgical care every day.

Depending on the treatment you choose, a facial may involve exfoliation, hydration, extraction, infusion of active serums, or the removal of fine facial hair. Each option targets different concerns, and your aesthetician will help you identify which approach makes the most sense for your skin type and goals.

02

What Can Facials Treat?

Our facial treatments can address a wide range of skin concerns, including:

  • Dull or uneven skin tone. Regular exfoliation and brightening treatments help reveal fresher, more radiant skin beneath the surface.
  • Rough or uneven texture. Treatments like DiamondGlow and dermaplaning remove dead skin cells and smooth the outer layer of the skin.
  • Fine lines and early signs of aging. Targeted ingredients and bio-revitalizing technology support skin density and a more youthful appearance.
  • Sun damage and pigmentation. Clinical-grade treatments can help fade discoloration and even out the complexion over time.
  • dry or dehydrated skin. Hydrating facials replenish moisture and restore suppleness to skin that feels tight or lackluster.
  • Enlarged pores and congestion. Deep exfoliation and extraction techniques help clear buildup and minimize the appearance of pores.
  • Fine facial hair (“peach fuzz”). Dermaplaning removes vellus hair along with dead skin cells, leaving skin noticeably smoother.

Treatment Options

DiamondGlow Facial — $200

DiamondGlow uses hydrodermabrasion technology to exfoliate the outermost layer of skin while simultaneously infusing professional-grade serums. The result is skin that feels instantly cleaner, smoother and more hydrated. It’s a great option if you want visible improvement after a single session and continued results with regular treatments.

Dermaplaning Facial — $125

Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade to gently remove dead skin cells and fine facial hair from the surface of the skin. The treatment leaves your skin noticeably brighter and smoother, and it creates an ideal surface for skincare products to absorb more effectively. Your makeup will also apply more evenly and last longer after dermaplaning.

PRX Derm Perfexion & PRX Plus

Looking for deeper collagen stimulation without needles or downtime? Our PRX treatments are topical biostimulators that work beneath the skin’s surface to firm, brighten, and improve overall skin quality.

03

Who Is a Good Candidate for Facial Treatments?

Most adults are good candidates for at least one of our facial options. These treatments are appropriate for a wide range of skin types and tones, and your aesthetician will recommend the right approach based on your individual skin and goals.

You may be a particularly good candidate if you:

  • Have dull, congested or uneven skin that hasn’t fully responded to your at-home routine
  • Are looking for low-downtime treatments that fit into your regular schedule
  • Want to prepare your skin before a special event or before a surgical or aesthetic procedure
  • Are maintaining results from a more intensive treatment like laser resurfacing or RF microneedling
  • Are new to aesthetic treatments and want to start with something approachable

If you have active skin conditions, open wounds or certain sensitivities, your aesthetician will discuss the most appropriate options during your consultation.

04

How to Prepare for Your Facial Treatment

A little preparation goes a long way toward getting the most out of your facial. Before your appointment:

  • Let us know about any active skin concerns. If you have a breakout, cold sore, rash or recent sunburn, let your aesthetician know ahead of time so she can adjust your treatment plan as needed.
  • Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids in the days before treatment. Products containing retinol, tretinoin, AHAs or BHAs can make your skin more sensitive. Pausing them for two to three days before your appointment is a good general rule.
  • Skip waxing or threading before dermaplaning. Your skin needs to be in its natural state before blade exfoliation. Avoid other forms of facial hair removal in the week leading up to your appointment.
  • Come with a clean face if possible. Arriving with minimal or no makeup allows your aesthetician to assess your skin accurately and spend more time on treatment rather than prep.
  • Stay hydrated. Well-hydrated skin responds better to exfoliation and product infusion, and it makes for a more comfortable treatment experience overall.

05

During Your Facial Treatment

Your appointment will begin with a brief consultation and skin assessment. Your aesthetician will ask about your current skincare routine, any concerns you want to focus on and any sensitivities or conditions she should be aware of. From there, she’ll walk you through the treatment plan for that visit.

Most facial appointments take between 45 and 75 minutes. The experience is generally comfortable and relaxing. DiamondGlow involves a vacuum-assisted wand that moves across the skin; dermaplaning involves light, controlled strokes with a surgical blade. Neither is painful for most patients, though some sensitivity is normal depending on your skin’s current condition.

Your aesthetician will talk you through what she’s doing throughout the treatment and let you know what to expect in the hours and days that follow.

06

Aftercare Tips for Facial Treatments

Taking care of your skin after a facial helps protect your results and keeps your skin calm and comfortable.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 to 48 hours. Your skin is more sensitive after exfoliation. Stay out of direct sunlight and apply an SPF 30 or higher before going outside.
  • Hold off on retinoids and active exfoliants for a few days. Give your skin time to settle before reintroducing stronger products into your routine.
  • Skip intense exercise the day of treatment. Heat and sweat can irritate freshly treated skin. Light activity is generally fine; anything that significantly raises your body temperature is better saved for the next day.
  • Keep your skincare simple immediately after treatment. A gentle cleanser, a hydrating moisturizer and SPF are all you need for the first day or two. Avoid anything with a strong fragrance or harsh active ingredients.
  • Follow your aesthetician’s personalized instructions. She may give you specific guidance based on your skin type and the treatment you received. Those recommendations take priority.

About Facial Treatments

FAQS

How often should I get a professional facial?

For most patients, every four to six weeks is a good general rhythm. That roughly aligns with your skin’s natural renewal cycle and gives each treatment time to fully take effect before the next one. That said, your aesthetician will give you a personalized recommendation based on your skin type and the treatments you’re receiving.

Which facial is right for me?

That depends on your skin concerns and what you’re hoping to achieve. DiamondGlow is a great option for overall brightness, texture, and hydration — especially if you want visible improvement after a single session. Dermaplaning is ideal if smoother skin and better product absorption are your priorities, or if fine facial hair bothers you. If you’re interested in collagen-stimulating treatments like PRX Derm Perfexion or PRX Plus, visit our Chemical Treatments page to learn more. A consultation will help you figure out exactly what makes sense for your skin.

Is dermaplaning safe for sensitive skin?

Dermaplaning can be appropriate for sensitive skin when performed by a trained professional who knows how to read the skin and adjust their technique. During your consultation, your aesthetician will assess your skin and let you know whether dermaplaning is a good fit or whether a gentler option might serve you better.

Will my hair grow back thicker or darker after dermaplaning?

No. This is a common concern, but it is not supported by how hair biology actually works. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair (the fine, colorless “peach fuzz” that covers the face) at the surface level. Hair follicles are not altered, and the hair that grows back will have the same texture and color it had before.

Is there any downtime with these treatments?

Downtime is minimal with both facial options. Dermaplaning and DiamondGlow typically produce no visible downtime for most patients, though your skin may be slightly pink or more sensitive immediately after treatment. You can generally return to normal activities the same day, with the aftercare precautions noted above.

Can I combine facials with other aesthetic treatments?

Yes, in many cases. Your aesthetician can coordinate with the broader aesthetic team to build a plan that layers treatments effectively for your goals and timeline. DiamondGlow, for example, pairs well with injectables done at separate visits, and dermaplaning is an excellent prep treatment before other aesthetic services.

How is this different from a spa facial?

The main differences are the products, the training and the clinical context. Medical-grade facials use professional-only formulations that are more concentrated and more targeted than what you’d find over the counter or at a day spa. Your provider is a licensed aesthetician working within a board-certified plastic surgery practice, which adds a layer of expertise and accountability that most spa settings simply don’t have.
